Tesla broke a record in the first quarter of 2023, selling 422,875 electric cars. The American automaker has increased its sales by 36% compared to 2022.

Just behind it is the Chinese automaker BYD. BYD started to sell in the UK this year in order to be competitive in the European market with its electric SUV, sports and compact models. BYD sold 264,647 vehicles in the first quarter of 2023, making it the second best-selling automaker after Tesla. In addition, BYD increased its sales by 85% compared to last year.

The third company that sells the most electric cars in the global market is VW Group. VW Group has increased its sales by 43% compared to last year by selling 140,852 electric cars. The Wolfsburg-based company wants to be competitive, especially in the compact segment. VW, which came up with the ID.2All concept in the past months, is the third best-selling automobile manufacturer in the global market.
